Dr. Horacena Tate’s life is centered on service to her community; a passion that she inherited from the legacy of her pioneering father, Dr. Horace E. Tate. During the 2009-2010 legislative session, she focused her efforts on public safety by securing the passage of the ban against texting while driving bill. This bill will help save lives on Georgia's roads. In her 12 years of service as the 38th District State Senator, she has been dedicated to improving public schools and expanding healthcare services for children and seniors. Her legislative agenda is to make us all proud to call District 38 and the state of Georgia our home. Dr. Tate has recently completed her sixth term as the 38th District Senator and she currently serves on six Georgia Senate committees. She is the secretary of Georgia Senate Democratic Caucus (since 2002) and chair of the Atlanta-Fulton County Senate Delegation (since 2006). In 2008 she was elected as a delegate to the Democratic Presidential Convention in Denver.
